Nancy Snyder

Nancy Snyder competed in field hockey, tennis, and basketball during her years at EvCC.  She was chosen captain of ‘67-‘68 field hockey team and named All State Goalie.  On the tennis court, she was part of the 1966-67 championship team and placed second in state in women’s doubles.

After EvCC, she transferred to Eastern Washington State College, successfully competing in volleyball, badminton, track and field.  As a college athlete at both EvCC and EWSC, she earned three letters in volleyball, field hockey, track & field, tennis and basketball; two in badminton; and one in softball.

She continued participating in athletics after Eastern, most notably as a fast-pitch and slo-pitch softball player. Snyder pursued a career in education in the Darrington School District as a teacher, coach, athletic administrator, referee and umpire.  Her 1981 boy’s baseball team was the Class ‘B’ State Champions.

Snyder was recognized as the 1997 Snohomish County Woman of Year in Sports, and is the 2003 recipient of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s (WIAA) Elmer Clarkson Award. She retired in 2003 but continues to substitute teach and volunteer for different school activities.
