1954 Track

Everett Junior College’s 1954 track and field team, coached by Chace Anderson, won the state championship following a stellar regular season series of meets. Five returning letterman led the team, and newcomers from around the region joined them to form a very competitive group. The team featured a combination of runners, jumpers, and throwers who could tally up points in a variety of events. Chris Sievers led the team in point totals and placed first in three events at the state meet. Ron Cooley won the discus and came in second in the shot put; Jerry Wester placed second in the two-mile run, and others contributed to the six-point victory. Team members included: Dave Olling, Jerry Wester, Chris Sievers, Roy Benson, Jerry Ullery, Bill Goerlich, Gordon Kimbell, Chuck Lincoln, Ron Cooley, Dick Knutsen, Bob Boushey, Ken Dahl, Roger Peterson, Pete Morris, Jake Bergslien, Don Prater, George Donnelly, Wayne Anderson, Bob Wilder, Mel Davenport, Jim Siler, Chuck Tutton, and Wayne Linke.
