2009 Women’s Cross Country

Few women’s cross country teams have dominated both the league and the league championship meet as did the 2009 Everett Community College squad. Their score of 23 points at the league championship meet meant that this team beat the field if the field would have formed a mega team. According to Coach Matt Koenigs, (who was named co-NWAACC coach of the year), there were few, if any, junior college teams in the nation that were as talented. The team outperformed many four year schools along the way, including UPS, PLU, CWU, EWU, Whittier, Occidental, Sonoma State, Portland State, Seattle U., Southern Oregon, and many more. The team swept the first three spots (Shawna Schooley, Valerie Massey, and Kelsey Loomans) and recorded the fifth lowest score in NWAACC history. Team members included Shawna Schooley, Valerie Massey, Kelsey Loomans, Jolene Minor, Amanda Brager, Kelly Talkington, Kelly Brown, Jessica Costigan, Krissy McGill, Lauren Ainsworth, Chelsea Bronn, Kelsey Whipple, Danielle Grams, and Renee McCann.
