Earl Averill, Jr.
One season at Everett Junior College was enough for Earl Averill to make an impact. He led the 1950 team in batting, did some pitching, and played in the outfield for the second place team in the league. Earl went on to the University of Oregon, where he is a member of their Hall of Fame. After three seasons at Oregon he was signed by the Cleveland Indians, debuting as a major-leaguer in 1956. Averill played for five major league teams over a seven-year period. His career also included stints in the minor leagues, and he ended his career with the Seattle Angels in 1965. Earl passed away in May of 2015 at the age of 83.
