Baseball Wins Series over Olympic, 3-1

The Trojans got back to North Region play this week with a 4-game series vs Olympic College, hosting on Saturday 4/28 and traveling to Bremerton on Sunday 4/29.  With overcast skies and the threat of rain, Game 1 went scoreless through 5 1/2 innings before the Trojans finally got on the board in the 6th inning from a Trent Tinglestad Home Run. Another solo home run by Danny Head in the bottom of the 7th gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead heading into the 9th inning. Starting pitcher for the Trojans Owen Leonard went 8 2/3 innings before giving up two runs to tie the game at 2-2.  Gabe Smith came in relief and secured the final out. After two walks in the bottom of the 9th, Connor Marschall got down a beautiful bunt single, and an over throw by the pitcher allowed the Trojan runner to come home to score. Trojans took game 1, 3-2.  Owen Leonard went 8, 2/3 innings pitched, giving up 7 hits, 0 earned runs, and striking out 5. Gabe Smith got the win in the top of the 9th securing the final out with a strikeout. Game 2 - A light drizzle began in game two and stayed constant for most of the game.  But with the rain came the Trojan offense, striking for a run in the first, second, and third innings.  A 3-2 Trojan lead was extended with another two runs in the 7th and a couple more insurance runs in the 8th for a convincing 7-2 win.  Danny Head got his 2nd home run of the day in the 3rd inning (his 10th of the season, and leads the Trojans in HR's).  Alex Spahman pitched a complete 9 inning game giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out 9. Game 3 on Sunday in Bremerton fared better weather, but a slow start to for the Trojans.  Even after accumulating 11 hits in the ball game, EvCC went scoreless through 6 innings before scoring their only run in the 7th.  Olympic did most of their damage in the 8th inning, scoring 7 runs, and finishing the game 13-1.  Marques Titialli was the starting pitcher going 6 innings, with 3 earned runs, 9 strikeouts, and recording the loss. The Trojans bounced back in the final game of the series with a phenomenal pitching performance from Mack Larson.  Larson went the distance in his first complete game of the year throwing just 107 pitches.  Offensively the Trojans scored 3 runs in the 4th and 3 runs in the 5th to secure the 6-0 win.  Danny Head hit his 3rd home run of the series, bringing his total to 11 on the season and now leads the NWAC. Mack Larson got the win, going 9 innings, giving up 7 hits and striking out 9.  Mack's ERA on the season is 2.21. The Trojans are now 9-7 in league and 25-12 overall and the Rangers are now 9-11 in league and 18-20 overall. The Trojans will face North Region leaders and NWAC #1 Ranked Edmonds CC at Edmonds  this Friday and home at Everett Memorial Stadium on Saturday this week.  THESE WILL BE THE GAMES OF THE YEAR!
