Baseball Team Sweeps Chemeketa

The final two games in the 4 game non-league series with the Storm of Chemeketa CC started at 12:00pm on Sunday, April 29th. Game 1 started with Chemeketa scoring a quick 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. It wasn't until the bottom of the 3rd inning that the Trojans were able to cut that lead to 1 when they scored 2 runs. It remained 3-2 in favor of the Storm until the Trojans scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, to now make it 6-3 Trojans lead. Though both teams tried to score in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings, neither team was able to and so with the 6-3 score, Everett won. Everett had 6 runs, 12 hits and 3 errors and Chemeketa had 3 runs, 1 hit and 1 error. The Trojans winning pitcher was Gabe Smith, with the save from Owen Leonard. The Storms losing pitcher was Kyle Sturgeon. For EvCC ~ Cameron McGrath had a doulbe and 3 RBI's; Mauro Owens had a double and 2 RBI's; Nic Anderson had 1 RBI. For ChCC ~ Brody Whittman had 1 RBI; Jackson Holstad had 1 RBI and a stolen base; Roby Ahlstrom & Junior Perez each had a stolen base. Game 2 started at 2:41pm and Chemeketa started the game with 1 run in the top of the 1st, yet Everett answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Trojans added 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 4-1 which is the way it stayed until the Storm scored 1 run in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 8th, the Trojans scored 3 runs to make it 7-2 and with the Storm unable to score in the top of the 9th, that was how it ended. Everett had 7 runs, 8 hits and 1 error and Chemeketa had 2 runs, 7 hits and 5 errors. Alex Spahman was the winning pitcher for the Trojans, with the save from Owen Leonard. Jack Sartin was the losing pitcher for the Storm. For Everett ~ Cameron McGrath had a double, 3 RBI's and 2 stolen bases; Kenny McCormick had a double; Trent Tinglestad, Nic Anderson & Mitch Albin each had 1 RBI; Drake Simons had 3 stolen bases and Daniel Head had 1 stolen base. For Chemeketa ~ Keegan Huey-Woods had a double; Dylan Morgan had a double and a stolen base; Austin Gerding & Jackson Holstad each had 1 RBI; Logan Williams had a stolen base. Everett is now 6-6 in league and 22-11 overall and Chemeketa is 5-11 in league and 8-22 overall.
