Solid Start in Opening Series

Solid Start in Opening Series

The 2019 campaign was launched after a change in plans when the opening weekend trip to Corvallis, Oregon to face Southern region powers Linn-Benton CC and Lane CC was cancelled due to poor weather and field conditions.  A change was made to host a 4 game series with East region powers and 2018 NWAC runners up Yakima Valley College.  Despite the threat of snow/rain showers and sub 40 degree temperatures, the new turf at Everett Memorial stadium held up well and allowed for all 4 games to be played without a single delay.

Freshman pitchers Connor Olmstead and Zach Boswell picked up their first collegiate career wins in games 1 and 3 respectively and sophomore starter Jacob Bradley got the win in game 2 after picthing a complete 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and 4 strikeouts.  The win was his 2nd of his collegiate career coming off of a freshman year where he posted a 2.70 ERA in 26.2 innings pitched and 30 strikeouts.  Freshman James McMurray picked up two saves on the weekend in games 1 and 3.

Nolan Smith, a freshman from Snohomish had a huge weekend going 5 0f 12 with 2 doubles, a homerun, and 7 RBI's, posting a .417 average for the series.  Second baseman Austin Hauck also had a great start to his collegiate career going 6 of 17 with a double, two base on balls, 3 RBI's, and a stolen base.

Everett will host three teams this coming weekend, facing Centralia and Spokane on Saturday (12pm and 6pm) and Big Bend and Centralia on Sunday (2pm and 5pm).
