The Trojans hosted the University of Calgary Dinos this past weekend a ball club that competes in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference and came away with a 3-1 series win. Everett is now 13-3, with one series remaining next weekend (at Chemeketa CC) before North Region play begins.
In game one, the Everett offense started quickly scoring two runs in the first two innings, and then added a huge 6 run inning in the 6th. Meanwhile, starting pitcher Brycen Allen threw five shutout innings and struck out five before giving up two runs in the 6th. Brian Pino and Kaden Roettger came on in relief, neither allowing a run and closed out the 11-2 win. Sam Linscott went 3-5, drawing a walk, and added 3 RBI's. Calgary proved much tough in game two, and both teams failed to push across a run until the top of the 7th when the Dino's strung a few hits together and took a 3-0 lead. Everett was able to get a run in the 8th on a sac fly, but that is all they could get and dropped the 2nd game by a score of 3-1. Sophomore starting pitcher Jacob Bradley went 5 innings with just one hit and 7 strikeouts and Connor Olmstead went two full innings with no hits and struck out 3. Full Box
Sunday's game three of the series started at 10am to get Calgary on the road as soon as possible for the 12 hour bus ride back home. The early start did not seem to bother the Trojan bats as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back tacking on four more to win 10-0. Starting pitcher, freshman Zach Boswell threw a no hitter (7 innings) and struck out 10 batters, walking only one. Nolan Smith was the offensive standout going 2-4 with a double and three RBI's. In the final game the Trojan's once again got on the board early with a run in the first, another two in the third, followed by four in the 4th. Starting pitcher Paul Falco went three shutout innings before giving up a run in the 4th and 5th innings. The bullpen came out strong, with Kaden Roettger finishing off the 5th and Ayden Adams closed pitching two innings, giving up no hits, and striking out two. Tyler McClain went 2-2 with a double and 2 RBI's and Nolan Smith picked up his 2nd double of the day going 1-3 with another RBI. They play next weekend on the road, traveling to Salem, OR to face Chemeketa CC in the final series, before North region play begins Saturday March 30th where the Trojans will host a double header with powerhouse Bellevue College.
