Trojans shoot lights out in win over Whatcom

Tonight was a special night for the Trojans as Markieth Brown Jr was recognized for an outstanding career with the Trojans after reaching 1,000 points in his career with Everett. The Whatcom Orcas came into today's game tied in league play with the Trojans after both teams started off 1-0.

Seconds into the game, Markieth Brown Jr set the pace with a 3 pointer in front of a packed house at Walt Price. Moments later Whatcom came back with a 3 of their own and that would be the story of the night. The Trojans as a team shot an outstanding 46% from beyond the arc going 13 of 28. The first half was fast paced and filled with 3's as the Trojans went into halftime up 2.

In the second half, both teams picked up right where they left off. Markieth Brown Jr went for 37 points on the night, leading the Trojans with 7 three pointers made. The big man down low, Magnus Jespersen had some key blocked shots and came down with 12 rebounds on the night. Overall the Trojans played well as a team, pushing the ball and putting pressure on Whatcom to make tough shots. In the final seconds Whatcom came back with a few plays to bring the score within 3. After a transition play for the Trojans, Phalon Maddox capped his 11-point night by slamming one down in the final seconds. The Trojans went on to win by a final score of 80-75.
