Bigfoot Classic Champs

After falling to Spokane in the semi-finals of the Red Devil Classic back on November 30th, the Trojans avenged their loss in the championship game against Spokane in their own tournament on their own home floor.  

EvCC opened up the tournament on Friday night with a match up against Eastern Washington University Club. The Trojans rolled to a 110-46 win, which ties their largest margin of victory this season of 64.  Seven Everett players scored in double figures, and three players recorded double doubles.

In the second round, Everett matched up against Big Bend Community College out of Moses Lake, WA.  It was a four point Trojan lead at halftime that was relinquished two minutes into the second half when the Vikings took a 47-46 lead.  However a 19-2 run by EvCC set the tone and the Trojans led by double digits the rest of the way, cruising to the 92-73 win.  Bobby Martin led all scorers 25 points, and Elijah Seybold came off the bench to add 23.

Everett matched up against Spokane on the 3rd and final day in the Championship game against host Spokane and it was their strong field goal percentage 31-60 (51.7%) that helped carry them to the 88-80 win.  Devin Smith had a monster performance with 24 points and 17 rebounds, and was named Tournament MVP for his combined performance over the weekend which was 16.3 ppg, 13.7 rpg and shot 67.7% from the floor.  Bobby Martin and Cameron Underwood were also named to the All Tournament Team.  Martin averaged 22 points and 6.7 rebounds to go with 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals.  Underwood played solid defense and still contributed 10.3 points and 4.0 rebounds.  Though Piol Makui was not named to the All Tournament Team, he certainly had an all tournament performance averaging 15.3 points, 5.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals.

The Trojans improve to 8-1 on the season, and will return home for a full slate of action next weekend.  They open with Mt. Hood CC on Saturday at 5pm, the rubber match verses Spokane on Sunday at 3pm, and concluding with Highline College on Monday at 7pm.
