Trojans take undefeated skagit down to the final shot

Tonights conference matchup featuring the Everett Trojans and Skagit Valley did not disappoint. Both teams came in looking to start conference play with a win and it came down to the final minute.

Elijah Seybold led all scorers with 19 points on 6-10 shooting in just 26 minutes of action. Devin Smith finished with 14 points, Piol Makuei with 12 points and Tyler Walker with 12 points.

The Trojans started hot going on a 9-0 run to begin the game. Skagit would chip away and eventually tie the game at 27 with 4 minutes left in the first half. The Trojans struggled down the stretch of the first half but only went into half time down 5 points.

The Trojans shot well as a team shooting 45% from the field and 29% from three. The Trojans made 11-13 free throws, which kept them in the game down the stretch.

Skagit began to show why they are undefeated as they got things going in the second half. Skagit was able to get into a double-digit lead at around 12 minutes left in the second half and they did well to maintain that lead. The Trojans were able to pull to within 2 points and only 7 minutes left to play.

With only 1-minute left, Tyler Walker was able to draw the foul and complete both free throws to tie the game at 64. Seconds later, Skagit would come down and ultimately win the game with a dagger 3-point shot by Daniel Santana. The Trojans had a couple last second attempts but could not find the range from three. Skagit was able to stay undefeated as they won 69-64.
