Mike Trautman, an Everett Community College Trojan alumnus, has spent the previous 6 seasons
as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Everett Community College where he compiled a record of
117-46 overall and 66-22 in the NWAC North Region. Previous to accepting the head coaching
position, Trautman was legendary coach Larry Walker’s assistant for 5 seasons from 2011-2016
helping the Trojans accomplish 4 straight winning seasons and two trips to the NWAC Tournament.
Trautman led the Trojans to the program’s first NWAC North Region Championship in school history
during the 2017-2018 season going 26-5 overall and 13-1. The Trojans earned the first ever #1
NWAC Coach’s Ranking for the final 5 weeks of the season. The Trojans have stayed on top of the
Region going 14-0 in 2018-2019 and 12-2 in 2019-2020 seasons, 12-6 in 2020-2021, winning the
region’s first 4Peat in NWAC North history. 
 
In 2018, 2019, and 2020, Trautman was voted the NWAC North Region Coach of the Year, along
with coaching the NWAC Baden Player of the year and NWAC North Region MVP, Gio Jackson in
2018 and NWAC North Region MVP Markieth Brown Jr. in 2019. In 2020, the Trojans had 2 first
team NWAC North Region selections in Bobby Martin and Piol Makuei. 2022 the Trojans were led
by 1 st team NWAC North Region selection Brendon Redford.
 
Prior to Trautman’s arrival at Everett CC, he spent one season as the assistant coach at Shoreline
CC during the 2010-2011 season and one season as an assistant at Archbishop Murphy High
School during the 2009-2010 year.  Trautman also coached High School Boys Basketball in the
state of Arizona at Precision High School (2001-2003) and Dysart School District (2003-2007).
 
The Granite Falls, Washington native prepped at Granite Falls High School and began his college
career at Everett Community College where he played for coach Larry Walker from 1996-1998,
where he helped the Trojans win 34 games and a 5 th  place finish in the 1997 NWAC tournament.   
 
Trautman completed his Teaching PE, K-12 Degree at Central Washington University in 2001 and
moved to Arizona to teach and coach.  After the birth of his 2 nd  child in 2007, his wife Molly and his
two boys, Luke and Tyler, decided to move back home to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to family
and set their forever roots in this community. Trautman currently teaches Elementary PE at Seattle
Hill Elementary, in the Snohomish School District and his family resides in Lake Stevens,
Washington.  When Coach Trautman is not coaching or recruiting for the Trojans, he is golfing,
camping, or fishing with friends and family.
