Men's Soccer Clinches Playoff Birth

Everett CC Men's soccer clinched a playoff spot for the second straight year after defeating Shoreline 2-1 today.  The win also puts the Trojans at 11 wins total on the season, which is the most all time in the teams 42 year history breaking the 1996 team win total of 10.  The 8 North Region wins also ties the most wins since the NWAC instituted 4 regions in men's soccer back in 2006.

The first half featured a dominate Trojan offense but despite 11 shots on goal, 45 minutes resulted in a scoreless draw.  Dolphin goalkeeper Diego Alfaro-Rivera recorded 7 first half saves.

Finally in the 59th minute, freshman Cade Cooke found the back of the net for his 3rd goal of the season, and was assisted by freshman captain Carlos Rodriguez who now leads the team with 5 on the season.  Shoreline tied the game in the 68th minute with a goal by Sarmad Aqrawi who has now scored in all three games against EvCC.

With motivation to clinch a playoff spot the 1-1 draw was broken in the 80th minute when Everett freshman Nahor Asso scored to seal the win.

Everett will next play on Saturday at home on sophomore day against Skagit Valley.  Despite one game remaing in the regular season the playoff picture is already set, and Everett will face West Region co-champions Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, next Wednesday October 31st.
