Trojans Split Series with Skagit Valley

Over the weekend the Everett Trojans Softball Team hosted Skagit Valley in a double header. Heading into Saturdays matchup, the Trojans were 0-4 in conference play while Skagit was 2-2. In game one of the series, the Trojans battled on the defensive side. Through four innings the Trojans were looking at a 1-0 deficit. In the top of the fifth, Skagit went on a streak and batted 9 runs in to end the game early. Final Score of the first game was Skagit Valley 10 and Everett 0.

Between games the Trojans were able to turn things around. The Trojans came out swinging in the first inning and batted in 5 runs. After going back and forth the next few innings, we went into the 6th inning with the Trojans up 8-3. In the top of the 6th, Skagit put up 5 runs tying the game at 8. In the bottom of the 6th, Brittnee Harvil had an RBI single bringing in the run to take the lead. Moments later, Zaragoza had a triple that put 3 more on the board for the Trojans. The final score was Everett 12 and Skagit Valley 8 in 7 innings.

Alyson Roberson had 2 hits for the Trojans and crossed home twice. Ciara Harding went 3 for 3 with a walk and had 2 RBI's. Cathy Zaragoza played great softball for the Trojans both pitching, hitting, and at 3rd base. Cathy's 3 RBI triple in the second game helped secure the Trojans win to tie the series. The Trojans play Tuesday March 26th against Pierce at 4 pm and 6 pm.
