Portland, OR - Everett opened up the 2019-20 season with an impressive showing at the Sophmore Showcase held at Delta Park in Portland, OR with 3 fall scrimmage wins. The day-long event also showcased some of the NWAC's best talent in a Sophmore Showcase game which featured 3 Trojans: Aly Roberson, Megan Parsley and Brittnee Harvill

 

In the first game of the day Everett started the season out with a bang pounding out 13 hits for an 8-0, 5-inning victory over Grays Harbor College. The Trojans were led by Aly Roberson's 2 for 3 with 2 dbl's, 2 rbi; freshman Mele Turner 2 for 2 1dbl, 1run scored; Cathy Zaragoza 2 for 2, 2rbi and 2 runs; and freshman Josie Franklin's 2 for 2, 2 runs and 1rbi. Cat Zaragosa and Mele Turner teamed up in the circle to hold the Chokers to scoreless in 5 combined innings pitched.

 

Game Two featured a classic battle with perennial power Lower Columbia College.  Trailing 2-3 in the bottom of the 5th, the Trojans rallied scoring 3 runs to claim the victory 5-3. The Everett offense smashed out 7 hits led by Aly Roberson's dbl and a run scored; freshman Shayla Young added a dbl with a run scored, and freshman Cami-leigh Horner blasted the first of her 2 Home Runs on the day. Cat Zaragoza and Mele Turner once again proved to be a tough combo in the circle, and could be a true force in the NWAC come spring.  

 

Game Three closed out the day with Everett dominating a 13-3, 3-inning victory over the Yaks from Yakima Valley College. The Trojans continued the hot bats led by freshman Raven Lasco-Rosa Triple that drove in 3 runs and later scoring a run of her own; Cami Horner hit her 2nd home run of the day, added a single, and 3rbi's with 2 runs scored; freshman and sister of Cami Horner, Cahlvrie Horner added to the Trojans attack with a double and single along with 2 rbi's and a run scored. Cat Zaragoza and Cami Horner both pitched extremely well.  Zaragoza showing some stamina to go three games and multiple innings, and Cami Horner getting her first collegiate live game innings of work.  

 

The Trojans head over to Wenatchee for 2 games against the Knights this Saturday and then head down on Sunday to once again battle the Yaks from Yakima Valley College.  Game times are slated for 12pm and 2pm on Saturday vs WVC and 11am and 1pm on Sunday vs YVC.
