Everett, WA - The Trojans squared off with cross town rival Edmonds College in a doubleheader that would likely determine the north region championship.  Both teams sit a top the standings with Edmonds holding a slight one game lead.

In the first game, runs were certainly not hard to come by as both teams scored a pair in the first inning. Everett opened up a five run lead after a big 3rd inning in which Emma Hansen and Avery Olson each homered.  Everett led by as many 6 before Edmonds surged back to claim a 10-9 lead on a 3-run homerun.

Everett got the run back in the bottom of the 7th to force extra innings, the first extra distance game of the season for the Trojans.  Neither team scored in the 8th, and things looked grim after Edmonds tallied three in the top of the 9th.

In the bottom of the 9th Olivia Boures led off with a single, and Layna Cowin follwed with a double.  Gracie Salverda tripled for the second time this season, and drove in two runs.  Catcher Alli Wilson singled to score Salverda and tie the game, bringing up Emma Hansen who capped off her outstanding game at the plate with a walk off double.  Hansen finished going 4-5 with two doubles and two homeruns, driving in 5 runs and also drawing a walk.  Alli Wilson also had a big game going 3-6, scoring 3 runs (including the game winner) and also driving in a run.

Game two did not start out great for the home team as they found themselves trailing 5-0 after two innings.  Each time Everett was able to plate a couple runs, Edmonds seemed to have the answer.  In the bottom of the 6th EvCC fought back to within one, trailing 9-8 but allowed three runs in the 7th to put the game out of reach.

Edmonds secured the 12-8 win and now holds a sigificant edge over Everett in the standings having taken three of four games and holding the tiebreaker if it comes down to that.  Everett has four region counting games left, all against Douglas College, while Edmonds has six remaining and a one game advantage over the Trojans.

Everett plays at Douglas College on Wednesday, May 1st and then will return home for sophomore day at Gaffney Field on Saturday May 4th against Douglas.
