The EvCC women's basketball team opened up North Region play on Wednesday night with a 77-72 loss to the Skagit Valley Cardinals.  Despite outshooting SVC, the Trojans were out rebounded 45 -28, and the difference in this game was on the glass allowing the Cardinals 20 second chance points.  Another hill to climb was putting Skagit on the line 21 times, of which they converted on 17 of those free throws.  Combine those 17 points with the 20 second chance points and Skagit was gifted 37 out of their total 77 points.

Once again the top offensive performers for the Trojans were Serafina Balderas who scored 28 points, making 8 of 19 three pointers, and Hannah Hezekiah dropped 20 points and was the largest contributor on the glass with 13 rebounds.

Other positives from last nights contest were that the Trojans shot the ball relatively well from the floor shooting 44% and limited turnovers to just six for the entire game.

Heading into this weekend, Everett will come home to face Whatcom CC who is coming off of a 51-55 home loss to Olympic.  Improvement will need to be made on the boards as Whatcom currently sits #1 in the NWAC averaging 50 rebounds per game.
