Trojans Win Big on the Road

Trojans Win Big on the Road

Everett CC Women's basketball went on the road last night to Shoreline and came out with a big 80-49 victory of the host Dolphins.  The win marks the second straight for the Trojans in conference play and 80 points is the team season high.

The first quarter of action started with plenty of offense, the Trojans shooting 10-21 from the floor and putting up 27 points, the most of any quarter played this season.  Hannah Hezekiah lead the way with 11 points, and made 3 of 5 three pointers.  Shoreline responded with 17 points of their own, totaling 44 points of offense in the first quarter.

Defensively both teams settled in the second quarter, but the Trojans really impressed holding Shoreline to just nine points and 22% from the floor.  Everett entered the half leading 43-26, but it would come at a cost.  Four of their available six players were in foul trouble. Serafina Balderas, Kelsey Mellick, Carolyn Brunner, and Maciee Delaney each with three fouls.

The third quarter was evenly played, with back and fourth scoring.  Kelsey Mellick and Maciee Delaney both picked up their 4th fouls, but Everett was able to hold onto the 17 point cushion heading into the 4th quarter.  Despite having two players with their 4th fouls and eventually having a third player pick up their 4th foul, the Trojans still played solid defense allowing just 10 4th quarter points, and cruised to the 80-49 victory.

The win sets up a North region rivalry showdown on Saturday afternoon against Edmonds Community College.  Both teams are 2-1 in conference play, the Trojans being the top offensive team in the conference, averaging 73.3 points per game, and Edmonds one of the top defensive teams in the conference allowing just 56.7 points per game.

Tip off is set for 2:30 pm at the Walt Price Center on Larry Walker Court.  Following the game will be the first annual Fire Fighters Charity Basketball game between the Everett Fire Department and the South Snohomish County Fire Department in support of the WSCFF Burn Foundation.
