Trojans score 8 in final minute in win over Skagit

The Everett Trojans played host to Skagit Valley Wednesday night at Walt Price for a 5 pm tip-off. The last time these two teams met Skagit Valley pulled off the 5-point win over the Trojans.

The Trojans started off hot this game playing with only 6 on the roster. After scoring 24 points in the first quarter, the Trojans found themselves up 5. Four of the six Trojans went on to score double digit points with Maciee Delaney putting up 9 points on the night. Hannah Hezekiah and Serafina Balderas would put up 20 point games and Morgan Marshall with 18 points and 10 big rebounds.

The Trojans put pressure on Skagit all night forcing turnovers with their full court pressure defense. The Trojans shot 43% from the field and made some clutch free throws near the end of regulation shooting 12-17 as a team from the stripe.

With only two minutes left in the game, the Trojans found themselves down 5. They pressured Skagit into a couple quick turnovers and after a few free throws the Trojans found themselves down only 1. On the inbounds Serafina Balderas and the Trojans defense forced a turnover that ultimately would lead to the winning basket with 30 seconds left.

The Trojans ended up taking this one 80-77 in a high scoring game between the two teams.
