Mt. Vernon, WA - Women's Hoops was back in action this weekend, traveling 40 minutes north to compete in the Skagit Valley Holiday Tournament.  The Trojans opened up with Big Bend CC out of Moses Lake, WA, a team that they faced 20 days earlier in the season at home and suffered a 94-79 defeat.  Everett used a strong 1st half to stave off a 22 point-3rd quarter from Big Bend and with seconds to go in regulation Hannah Hezekiah had a chance to break the 56-56 tie, but the shot was just off the mark.  In five minutes of overtime the Trojans put up 10 points, six from Hezekiah and four from Kelsey Mellick, which was enough to hold off the Vikings by a final score of 66-62.  Hezekiah finished with 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

On day two the Trojans once again faced a familiar opponent.  This time it was Green River who they handled easily back on December 6th by a score of 70-33.  It would be another lopsided affair and EvCC cruised to a 66-39 win allowing just 2 points in the 4th quarter.  It was a big night for Kelsey Mellick who scored 22 points and collected 8 rebounds.

The final day of the tournament was originally scheduled to be against Grays Harbor College out of Aberdeen, WA, but a late minute withdrawal from the tournament brought in a local team of former college players called the Skagit Stars.  The game was fairly close throughout, but the youth of EvCC eventually prevailed with the 78-70 win.  Four Trojans scored in double figures, and freshman Alexa Martin collected her 2nd double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds to go with 7 assists.

On the Tournament, four Trojans averaged double figures, Hezekaiah (17.7), Mellick (16.7), Marshall, (15.3), and Martin (12.0) who also averaged 8.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists which led the team.  Everett's next game will be on Saturday, at 5pm against Tacoma CC.  Everett faced Tacoma back on November 15th at Tacoma and came away with a 66-50 win.
