Trojans are going to the NWAC Tournament!

The Trojans hosted Edmonds in a huge play in game to go to the NWAC Tournament Saturday night. Both teams have been battling to stay in the playoff hunt as these two teams split their season series 1-1. The winner of tonight will go on to play in the tournament as a 4 seed.

Both teams started hot putting up big numbers in the first quarter. Everett took the first quarter leading 20-16 after shooting 47% from the field. Everett opened up the scoring in the second quarter with a Kelsey Mellick 3 pointer to go up 23-16. After a short 7-5 run by the Trojans, a Hannah Hezekiah 3 would give them their biggest lead of the game going up 33-21. Edmonds was able to string together a few buckets and go into half with a 35-27 Trojans lead.

Top Scorer for the Trojans was Hannah Hezekiah with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both Morgan Marshall and Trinidee Kahunahana had big games as they finished with 9 points each. Chanelle Martinez contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds coming off the bench on 3-5 shooting.

With about 4 minutes left in the third, Edmonds was able to pull to within 3 points. A big 3 by Larsa Guzman was able to give the Trojans a 6 point lead and they never looked back. After closing out the third up 50-43, the Trojans opened up the forth with an Alexa Martin layup to go up 52-43. Despite a full court press by Edmonds, Everett was able to move the ball down the court well and maintain their lead. The Trojans were able to close out the game with a couple Hannah Hezekiah free throws and finish the game by a score of 58-48. The Trojans await their first round opponent as they enter the tournament as the final 4 seed.
