Port Angeles, WA - For the first time in over 14 months the women's basketball team took the floor in competition and they hit the ground running on the road against an always tough Peninsula team.  The Trojans jumped out to an 11-0 lead, with 8 of those coming from freshman Sydney Vanness in her first career collegiate game.

The host Pirates would not go down that easily and chipped away eventually tying the game up at 19.  From that point a seesaw battle would ensue for the remainder of the game.  Peninsula built a 6 point lead with 2:45 remaining, but a made three by Vanness put the Trojans back on top 40-39.

After three more lead changes, the Trojans held on for the 48-43 win.  Sydney Vanness finished with 23 points and led all scorers.  Sophomore transfer and Snohomish native Courtney Perry led with 10 rebounds and chipped in 9 points.

Everett will play their next game at home on Wednesday, April 7th against Whatcom CC.
