Trojans Drive Past Rangers

Liz Frazier drives to the hoop

Everett, WA – The Trojans got back in action Saturday afternoon after ten days off from their narrow three point loss to a strong 8-1 Bellevue team.  EvCC looked like they had something to prove, putting up 17 first quarter points and holding the visiting Rangers of Olympic College to 6.  The lead would remain 11 going into the half, and it was a balanced scoring attack led by Mikail Montez with 9 points, Courtney Perry with 8 points, and Sydney VanNess with 7 points.

Everett kept the good times rolling in the second half, outscoring Olympic 17-9 in the 3rd quarter and building to their largest lead of the game at 24  with 7:51 remaining in the game.  The gap would close slightly but each time Olympic scored, Everett seemed to have an answer and cruised to the 64-44 win.

Sydney VanNess led all scorers with 21 and Mikail Montez recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Perry finished with 12 points and sophomore Channelle Martinez scored 4 points, dealt 2 assists, and hauled in 5 rebounds on sophomore night.

The Trojans move to 3-3 on the season and will play on Wednesday against 3-6 Skagit Valley College on the road.
