On the Hunt for North Region Win

On the Hunt for North Region Win

Everett, WA – The Trojans returned home Saturday afternoon to take on Shoreline, a team boasting an impressive 11-5 record and off to a 2-1 start in north region play.  The Dolphins wasted little time, getting out to a 12-0 lead.  Everett converted on just 3 of 8 free throws before making their first field goal of the quarter with 3:40 remaining.   But the Trojans put together a 14-4 run to close out the first, and it was Shoreline's 16-14 lead.

The Dolphins scored the first seven points of the second quarter, however the Trojans appeared to be loaded with grit and battled back to take a 25-23 lead with five minutes to play.  Shoreline was able to capitalize on 6 fastbreak points and outscored EvCC 9-4 over the remaining five minutes of the quarter and went into the half with a 32-29 lead.   Seven different Trojans scored and Baylor Thomas led the way with 11.

Shoreline outscored the Trojans 25 to 15 in the 3rd quarter, making it an uphill climb in the final quarter of play.  Unfortunately for EvCC, the offense went just 2 for 13 from the field in the 4th quarter, while Shoreline converted on 41% and won 75-52.

Baylor Thomas finished with 20 points and sophomore Ashlee Kluin was the next highest scorer for EvCC with 7.

Everett will be back this week, traveling to Olympic in search of their first north region win.  Game time is set for 5:00pm on Wednesday in Bremerton.
