Everett, WA – The Trojans hosted Peninsula College on Saturday afternoon still in search of their first north region win.  The assignment would be perhaps the most difficult test of the season, taking on the #4 ranked Pirates, the highest ranked team that EvCC has faced this season.

Peninsula opened up the game in a full court press, that EvCC handled well, however the visitors were able to find success against the Trojan zone defense and built out an eleven-point lead by the end of the first quarter.  Everett got some looks inside the paint offensively, but went just 2 of 11 from the floor and 0 for 3 from beyond the arc.

EvCC played a stronger defensive 2nd quarter and held Peninsula to 11 points.  It was still an offensive struggle however, shooting 27% from the floor and EvCC trailed 28-16 going into the half.

The Trojans played their best offensive quarter of the game in the 3rd and scored 17 points, 10 from Baylor Thomas.  But the Pirates also had their best offensive quarter of the game, putting up 22 and the deficit grew to 17.

Peninsula led by as many as 23 in the 4th quarter and won by a final score of 68-47.  Baylor Thomas put up half of the team's points, scoring 24 and Jada Andresen scored 16.  Thomas also led the team in rebounds with 7, while Andresen led the team defensively with 6 steals.

Everett will play their next game at home on Wednesday, January 31st against Whatcom.  The Orcas are 4-11 on the season, and have yet to win a north region game as well.  Tip off is set for 5:00pm.
