Big Improvement Versus #2 Ranked Peninsula

In back to back games, the Trojans faced top ranked opponents in Edmonds CC and Peninsula College.  While the final score showed 5-0, the team showed considerable toughness and grit.

In the first meeting, the Trojans lost 12-0 to the Pirates without their starting goalkeeper, and several other injuries.  In Saturdays match, Emma Allison was back in goal, and while two key players were out with injuries, there was noticeable improvement in the defense.  The first 30 minutes of the match looked to be a repeat of the last matchup, as the Trojans trailed 4-0 going into the half and conceding the first goal 6 minutes into the match.

Everett's defense looked to be settled from the 30 minute mark and on trimming Peninsula's 13, first half shots on goal down to 5.  Emma Allison made 4 saves to add to her 2 that she collected in the first half.  The second half played out to be a 1-0 advantage for the Pirates.  Head coach Rafael Marins was proud of his team for the 2nd half effort against such a quality opponent, and believes that confidence will build moving forward.

The Trojans will face another quality opponent in Whatcom CC who is coming off of a big upset win over Edmonds.  EvCC will host the match at Kasch Park with kick-off set for 1:30pm.
