Trojans defeat Orcas 3-1

Trojans defeat Orcas 3-1

This afternoon the Trojans took the field with a full squad after resting a few key players last week and it ended up paying off. Emma Allison started out in goal for Everett after a solid outing against number 2 ranked Peninsula last Saturday. Emily Newt-Fears and Jaylin Baah-Yeboah came ready to play after sitting out on Saturday.

The Trojans set the pace of this game within the first 7 minutes as Everett's Oshinaye Taylor put away the first goal to give them the 1-0 lead. After that the Trojans never let their foot off the gas. Less than 10 minutes later the Trojans struck again with a goal by Jaylin Baah-Yeboah in the 14th minute, assisted by Emily Newt-Fears.

Just when everyone thought the game would be going into half 2-0, 2 goals were scored in less than 50 seconds apart from each other. In the 44th minute, Whatcom would close in on the Trojans by scoring their first goal of the game leaving the Trojans up 2-1. But right before half, the Trojans came right back with a goal of their own to put them up 3-1. It was Everett's Emily Newt-Fears with her second assist of the game, setting up Giavanna Tift for the goal.

The Trojans were able to hold their lead throughout the second half, winning the game by a final score of 3-1. Emma Allison was able to hold the Orcas to a single goal by bringing in 13 saves on the day. Everett had a few chances in the second half including 6 corner kicks but could not capitalize on their set plays. Overall the Trojans showed that they can compete with anyone when healthy and look to finish off the season strong. The Trojans go on the road to take on Shoreline this Saturday October 6th.
