Cardinals top Trojans 2-1

Women's soccer lost in a tough road game on Wednesday, 2-1 to host Skagit Valley College.  EvCC would strike first with a goal in the 17th minute by leading goal scorer Jaylin Baah-Yeboah, assisted from Lauren Dowdell.  However, the Cardinals offensive attack placed plenty of pressure on the Trojan defense in the first half, with 10 shots on goal.  Freshman goalkeeper Emma Allison recorded 9 saves in the first half, but eventually the Cardinals put one away in the 38th minute.

The Trojan defense would improve limiting SVC to just 5 second half shots to the Everett's 8.  The difference in the game would be that Skagit capitalized on one of those shot attempts while the Trojans were unable to get one past the Skagit keeper who recorded two big saves in the 2nd half.

The loss puts EvCC 4 points out of playoff position, but with still five games left on the schedule and plenty of opportunity to accumulate enough points for a playoff spot.  Trojans will host 2nd place rival Edmonds CC at home on Saturday with kickoff set for 12:00pm.
