Edmonds Escapes with 2-1 Win

After falling twice to Edmonds earlier in the season, the EvCC women's soccer team came out hungry in their 3rd and final matchup of the regular season with Edmonds CC.  Both teams played well defensively in the first half with Everett only able to come up with one shot on goal, to Edmonds three.  Everett goalkeeper Emma Allison had 3 very good saves to keep the game scoreless going into halftime.

It was not until 62nd minute when the 0-0 draw would be broken.  Sophomore Courtney Arnold sent a long pass down the left side to freshman Emily Newt-Fears who would beat the keeper to the ball, one touch past a defender, and find the back of an open net.  It was Emily's 4th goal of the season and Courtney's 2nd assist.

From there, Edmonds picked up the offensive pressure, and ten minutes later they were able to find a goal of their own to bring the game back to even at 1-1.  Freshman Trojan goalkeeper Emma Allsion would go on to record 7 saves in the game, but it was the 8th save that was just out of her reach and would eventually seal the game 2-1.

The Trojans fall back 7 points out of playoff contention with four games remaining on the schedule.  Everett will be on the road for the next two games, Wednesday against Peninsula and Saturday against Whatcom.
