Trojans Come Up Shoret Against #4 Cardinals

Everett, WA - The Trojans faced Skagit Valley on Saturday afternoon, two days after a big 6-1 road win over Whatcom.  Freshman Alexis Bell had her best game of the season, not only scoring her first collegiate goal, but also earned the hat trick with two more goals, one of which will be in the running for goal of the year.  For the first 15 minutes of the match the Trojans went toe to toe with the #4 ranked Cardinals, but SVC got on the board first on a cross that found the head of Liz Cisneros, and there was nothing freshman goal keeper Ruby Wacker could do.  Wacker ended the first half with 6 saves, while the EvCC offense got three shots on goal coming from Alexis Bell, Paige Runcorn, and Emily Morandi.

In the second half EvCC defender Maria Isaza hit a ball from about 35 yards away that bounced on the turf and nearly over the oustretched arm of the SVC keeper, but she got just enough of it to keep the 1-0 lead.  Wacker made four more saves for the Trojans before Skagit Valley got their second goal of the match in the 72nd minute, and then sealed the deal 13 minutes later to but Skagit up for good 3-0.

Ruby ended the game with a season high 12 saves for EvCC while Skagit goalkeeper Zoe Crawford made 6 saves.

The Trojans will look to bounce back as they travel to Shoreline on Friday, September 29th to take on the Dolphins who are 0-6 on the season.
