Trojans Lose in 4 Sets to Whatcom

The EvCC Trojan Volleyball team hosted Whatcom Friday night at the Walt Price Center on the campus of Everett Community College. This match marked the second of 3 home games.

Both teams entered tonight with a 0-1 conference record looking for their first regular season conference win. Both Whatcom and Everett looked to break their losing streaks coming in sitting at an overall record of 5-12 and 3-15 respectively.

The first set went back and forth with neither team taking a demanding lead. Whatcom stayed in the set but ultimately it was the Trojans taking it by a score of 25-23.

In the second set, the Orcas came back and routed the Trojans 25-12. Both Paige Goodwin and Maddie Welch have lead the way with 5 and 4 kills respectively through the first two sets.

After the break, the Orcas stayed on fire and took the next two sets with a demanding 7 point victory in the third and by 11 in the fourth set. From the start of the second set on, the Orcas got it rolling and never looked back. Maddie Welch had a standout game starting the game and coming in with 6 kills and 2 aces. There's a lot to look forward to this season from this young squad as the Trojan's look to get their first conference win next Wednesday at home against Shoreline.
