Trojans Run Well at NWAC Championships

The Everett Community College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams placed 6th and 5th respectively, at the NWAC Cross Country Championships, hosted on the campus of St. Martin's University in Lacey, WA.  

The first race of the day featured the women, with 60 total runners from 11 schools. It was Delia Deleon of Treasure Valley CC that came home with the 1st place medal with a time of 18:29.  Second place finisher Micaela Kostecka of Spokane CC was 12 seconds behind her at 18:41.  For the Trojan's it was top runner, freshman Kaitlin Morgan who finished first for the team at 12th overall and a time of 20:45.  Teammates Jeniya Guillen, Madison Velasquez, Rachel Sherson, and Camren Salmonson finished 23rd, 30th, 32nd, and 52nd respectively to score 149 points and secure a 5th place overall finish.  Spokane took home the first place overall team finish, followed by Treasure Valley in 2nd, and Lane CC in 3rd.

The men's race followed featuring 60 runners from 11 schools as well.  Lane CC's Andy Muha and Michael Martin controlled the entire race and finished 1st and 2nd at 26:47 and 26:56 respectively.  The 3rd place finisher was Ethan Green from Spokane who was 27 seconds behind.    Everett's top runner was Zachary Cushman, posting a time of 28:46 and finishing 15th overall.  Teammates Anthony Meza, Galmo Said, and Cortlend Novak were close behind, finsihing 20th, 22nd, and 26th.  Channing Frolich rounded out the team score finishing 39th overall.  While the Trojans finished 6th overall as a team, they were just 5 points shy of Clackamas in 5th, and 17 points away from a 4th place overall finish.  As expected, Lane came away with the NWAC team championship with a score of 42 points.  Close behind for 2nd place was Spokane with 49 points.
