London and Schneider Lead Trojans

Ellee London leading a pack of runners

The Trojans opened up the 2019 Cross Country season on Saturday at the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational and were lead by Sophomore Ellee London on the women's side and freshman Nathan Schneider on the men's side.

The first race of the day featured the women's 6k, which is 1,000 kilometers longer than the more commonly ran 5k race.  Ellee London finished 47th overall and was third among the other NWAC competitors.  Fellow Sophomore Sandra Hart finished 72nd overall and freshmen Mary Carbajal, Caitlyn Smith, and Carleanne Hasbrouck finished 61st, 73rd, and 85th in their first collegiate races.

The men entered four competitors in 8k and it was freshman Nathan Schneider that lead the pack. Nathan finished 40th overall and 2nd amongst the NWAC runners, just five seconds behind the runner that took first.  The Trojan's field was rounded out by returning sophomore Nathan McGinty (53rd) Jeffrey Richner (66th) and Trent Henry (78th).

First year head coach Julian Bardwell said that it was a good first race of the season, especially for the women adjusting to a longer distance, and for the freshman men who ran 5k's in high school, and now building for the collegiate 8k.

EvCC's next race will be next weekend at St. Martin's University for the NWAC Preview.
