Sophomores Lead the Trojans

Everett, WA - Experience led the Trojans this past weekend at the Ken Garland Classic on the campus of Saint Martin's University featuring NCAA DII, NJCAA, and NWAC teams.  Ellee London on the women's side and Nathan McGinty on the men's side posted top times for EvCC at the Preview Race for the NWAC Championship Meet, coming up in seven weeks.

London once again led the women in the 5k (the first 5k this season) with a time of 19:19.58, a PR by 40 seconds from last season's best mark and finished 19th overall in a race with 101 competitors.  She was 8th overall among NWAC Competitors.  London was followed by teammates: Mary Carbajal (21:35.93, 55th), Maylynn Cendejas (22:08.12, 66th), Sandra Hart (22:22.98, 67th), Caitlyn Smith (22:26.89, 69th), and Carleanne Hasbrouck (26:07.65, 79th).  For Carbajal, Smith, and Hasbrouck it was their first collegiate 5k race.   

In the men's 8k, lone sophomore Nathan McGinity finished first for Everett posting a time of 28:33.05, 59th overall in a 119 competitor race.  McGinty was 17th overall among NWAC competitors.  He was followed by freshman Trent Henry (29:32.84, 72nd), Nathan Schneider (29:59.04, 81st), Jeffrey Richner (30:29.66, 92nd) and Geoffrey McGaughey (35:03.31, 117th). 

For team scoring the women finished 4th among NWAC teams, and the men finished 6th among NWAC teams.

The Trojans next race will be on October 5th at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, OR.
