Trojans Baseball: Fall Recap

Ryan Witt High Fiving Teammates

Everett, WA - If the fall is any indication of how the spring will go, then the 2020 Everett CC Trojan's Baseball team will be poised to make another run at what would be the program's 5th trip to the NWAC Championship game in the last 8 years.  Undoubtabley, the focus will be on bringing home the NWAC Championship, something that 3rd-year head coach JoJo Howie accomplished as a starting pitcher on the 2013 Championship team, which was the last time EvCC captured the NWAC Title.

The Trojans have came close in recent history with three 2nd place finishes in the last four years.  And despite 13 players from last year's team moving on to 4-year universities, six of which to DI baseball programs (Nicholas Klemp- U. of Portland, Sam Linscott-Marshall, Charlie Larson-East Carolina, Brycen Allen-Florida Atlantic, Paul Falco-Northern Colorado, Gabe Smith-U. of Washington) the Trojans will still get back several key returners from last year's team along with a slew of talented freshman that will once again make Everett CC one of the top teams to beat in 2020.

With the fall schedule coming to a close, this Sunday, October 20th at Everett Memorial Stadium (the home of the Trojans) will be the annual alumni game, a game that features several former notable EvCC Trojans that went on to have great baseball careers and still have a little something left in the tank to challenge the Trojans of today.

Fall season will conclude with the annual Trojan World Series, a 5-game intersquad series that will be played October 21-25 at Everett Memorial.

Official practices will resume on January 15th in preparation for the season opener which will be on February 22nd down in Eugene, OR against NWAC powerhouse Lane CC.  In fact, the Trojan non-conference schedule is about as tough as it gets playing the likes of Linn-Benton CC, Yakima Valley, Big Bend CC, Pierce, and Tacoma CC, all perennial NWAC playoff teams.

North Region play will get underway with a bang on March 28th against rival Edmonds CC and followed up on the ensuing weekend with another conference foe in Bellevue College.  Between Edmonds, Bellevue, and Everett, no other team has won the North Region Title since 2009.
