Trojans Beat Rival Edmonds in OT

The Trojans hosted rival Edmonds Saturday night in a T Trophy showdown at Walt Price on the campus of EvCC. The Trojans came into the game with a 21-4 record, 8-2 in conference play. Tonight's matchup was one you did not want to miss.

The first half was close by both teams with a half time score of 39-38 Tritons. The largest lead of the game by both teams was only 8 points. Four of the five starters for the Trojans finished with double digit scoring. Leading the way was Bobby Martin with 17 points. Devin Smith and Tyler Walker both put up double-doubles in scoring and rebounding.

Both teams came out battling in the second half and neither team could run away with the game. With about two minutes left in the game, the game was tied. Edmonds was able to get by the Trojan defense for a layup with a minute and twenty-three seconds remaining. After a missed layup, Tyler Walker was able to have a put back layup for two in order to tie the game with 27 seconds. Both teams had a chance to end the game in regulation but we would go into overtime all tied at 74.

In overtime, Joe Crumley had back-to-back 3 pointers to put the Trojans up 6. Just went the Trojans were gaining momentum, Edmonds fought their way back to to tie the game at 8- with just 23 seconds left. With two seconds remaining, Piol Makuei would make a game winning layup as he got fouled followed by a made free throw which would secure the 83-80 win over rival Edmonds.
