Trojans take down Edmonds in Rivalry Matchup

The Trojans hosted rival Edmonds Saturday night in a T Trophy showdown at Walt Price on the campus of EvCC. The Trojans came into the game with a 12-13 record overall and 4-6 conference record. The Trojans opened the game with a 3-point basket by Hannah Hezekiah in the first 20 seconds. The Trojans were able to maintain a lead throughout the first quarter until Edmonds made a 3 point shot with 33 seconds left to end the first quarter up 17-16. Edmonds caught fire heading into the second quarter and was able to outscore the Trojans in the second by a score of 27-14, which put Edmonds on top 44-30 heading into half.

The leading scorers for the Trojans were Hannah Hezekiah who put up 22 points on 9 of 18 shooting and Kelsey Mellick with 20 points on 9 of 22 shooting. Alex Martin contributed 11 points on 5 of 5 shooting. Trinidee Kahunahana and Morgan Marshall both put up 7 points.

Edmonds started the second half with a quick 3 pointer to go up 17 and things didn't look good for the Trojans. The Trojans applied pressure on Edmonds and fought their way back to take the lead with 4 minutes left in the third. Both teams came out strong in the fourth while Edmonds maintained a 3-point advantage. The momentum shifted toward the Trojans as Hannah Hezekiah hit another big 3 point shot with 5 minutes left in the game to put the Trojans up one. Both teams battled down the stretch but the Trojans were able to hang on to the lead and finish the game with a win by a score of 71-68.
