Wednesday night the Trojans hosted first place Whatcom who has been on an 8 game winning streak while going 6-0 in conference play. The Trojans rallied as a team and even saw an 8 point lead in the third set. Whatcom would make the third set interesting as they closed in on Everett 20-22. After a timeout by Everett, the Trojans finished strong winning the third set 25-21.
The Trojans continued to battle a first place Whatcom team going into the fourth set. During a back and forth set, the Trojans would continue to hold a small lead over Whatcom. After a few back-to-back points by Whatcom, the Trojans would call another big timeout to regroup as the score closed in 14-15. Every time the Trojans started to gain a lead, Whatcom would quickly get right back in it with a couple points of their own. After a big kill by Kasey Dale (from Bailey Gardner) to go up 23-21, the Trojans were finally able to pull away and take the fourth set from the Orcas by a score of 25-23.
The fifth set did not disappoint. After going point for point, the Orcas would have a game-ending kill by Lucy Mueller to go up 13-11, which would result in a 15-11 final.
