Khalil Gilbert, a sophomore out of  Alamogordo, NM is our Northwest Plus Credit Union Male Trojan Athlete of the Week. Khalil placed 5th overall at the Larry Byerly Invite hosted by Lewis & Clark College last weekend.  His time of 49.22 is a season best and moved him up the #2 ranking on the NWAC performance list.  He also placed 13th out of 73 competitors in the 200m but posted the fastest time among all two year college competitors and has the 7th fastest time in the NWAC this season in that event.   Beyond those two events, Khalil ran a leg in the 4x400m relay helping the team to a 6th place finish, just a second behind Clark College who had the fastest two year college team time at the meet.  The time of 3:29:05 is the third fastest time in the NWAC currently but is only nine tenths of a second away from the top time. 

Khalil is aiming to break his 400m PR time of 48.95 which would contend to win the conference championship this season and be among the fastest times in school history.
