Zach Simons
Simons was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 38th round back in 2003 right out of high school, but the 2003 Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year chose to go to college instead, and play for EvCC. He helped rebuild the college’s baseball legacy in the 2004 and 2005 seasons after EvCC restarted the program in 2002 after a 20-year hiatus. Simons was named to the NWAACC Northern Region 1st Team and the NWAACC All-Conference 1st Team in 2004. In 2005, he was selected as both the region and the league’s MVP. The Colorado Rockies drafted Simons in the second round of the 2005 June amateur draft, and he spent the next seven years playing professionally. He currently resides in Mountain Home, Idaho with his family.
