Barbara (Bonnell) Burleson

A multi-sport athlete, Barbara Burleson played field hockey, track, and tennis at EvCC between 1973 and 1975. She was the team captain of the field hockey team in 1973 and 1974, receiving the recognition as a first-team all-state performer both years. Burleson led both squads to second-place finishes in the state, competing against schools that included Pacific Lutheran University, University of Puget Sound, Western Washington and Washington State University. Her track and field performances were also at the highest level; she finished second in the state in both the 100 yard dash and the long jump in 1975. After transferring to WSU, where she played on the field hockey team, Burleson entered the education field. She is currently employed in the North Thurston school district where she has been a physical education teacher for more than 30 years.
