Everett Takes a Pair from Bellevue

Everett Takes a Pair from Bellevue

Bellevue, WA - North Region play got underway on Saturday with a road doubleheader against Bellevue College.  The Trojans completed a tough non conference schedule, going 10-8 with a 4-2 away game record.  Everett's success on the road carried through to the north region opener and handled Bellevue by final scores of 3-2 and 9-1.  Everett opened up the first game with three straight hits, the third coming from Keaton Fisher to drive in the first run of the ball game.  One batter later Carson Burns hit a sac fly RBI, to score Jonah Shull who doubled earlier in the inning.  The Trojans got their third run in the 3rd inning again with a Carson Burns RBI.  This time it was a single that scored Nate Davis from second base.  The three runs would be all that was needed as the Trojan pitching was solid through 7 scoreless innnings.

Starter Wyatt Queen went 6 innings with 4 hits and 4 strikeouts.  Mason Devinney picked up his second save of the year.  He worked out of a jam in the 7th keeping Bellevue off the scoreboard but two unearned runs scored in the 8th making it a one run game going into the 9th. Devinney got two quick outs but then drama ensued after a batter reached on a hit by pitch and another error prolonged the inning and moved the tying run up to second base.  Devinney kept his cool and on a 2-2 got a fly out to right field to end the game.  In three innings pitched he gave up 3 hits, no earned runs, and struck out two batters.

The pitching for Everett in game two was once again stout, not giving up a run until the bottom of the 8th inning.  Starter Ethan Hubbell picked up win number 3 on the year after going 7 innings with 5 strikeouts and giving up just two hits.  Closer Callum Young got the job done, and while he did give up a run, his two innings of work yielded 3 strikeouts. Offensively the bats were rolling, with a pair of runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings.  The Trojans put the game out of reach after 6th inning, when they scored three runs, and took a 8-0 lead.  After Bellevue's lone run in the 8th, Everett got it back in the top of the 9th and held on for the 9-1 win.  Isaac Hoag and Axel Puls each went 3 for 4, Hoag with an RBI single and Puls a two run single.  Keaton Fisher added a two run double and Micah Coleman was the other Trojan to have two hits, one of which was a double.

Everett will play another double header next Saturday March 30th, against Shoreline (6-12).  First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
