Offense, Offense, and more Offense

Port Angeles, WA – The Trojans headed across the sound to take on Peninsula College in the first game since COVID ended the Trojan's season last March on the day of the first round of the NWAC playoffs.  Both teams were eager to be back on the floor in competition and it was apparent that both teams desired to walk away with the win after 6 ties and 11 lead changes throughout the contest.

The first half ended with an offensive showcase and an EvCC lead at 46-41.  Freshman Jake Howe was absolutely unconscious for the Trojans, putting up 18 first half points, while the Pirates had a more balanced attack with six players scoring between 5 and 8 points.

The game remained tight in the 2nd half and at one point the Pirates built a 7 point lead at 57-64 with about 11 minutes remaining.  Freshman Connor Brown came in off the bench and got a huge offensive rebound and put back score that ignited EvCC to score 10 unanswered points.  Everett would go on to out score Peninsula 34-15 in the last 11 minutes of the game and cruised to the 93-79 win.

Everett shot a stellar 58% from the field and 57% from beyond the arc, the first year that the men's college three point line moved back to 22 feet, 1 ¾ inches. The team also got to the free throw line 28 times and shot 82.1%.

Jake Howe led all scorers with 25 points, and Cam Millican chipped in 20 off the bench.  Freshman point guard Brycen Dillworth played all 40 minutes and added 17 points to go along with 6 assists.  Returning sophomore Devin Smith cleaned up the glass hauling in game high 15 rebounds.

The Trojans play next at home on Wednesday, April 7th at home against Whatcom at 7pm.  No spectators will be permitted but the game will be streamed live.
