Men's Hoops Gets Two Home Wins

Lul Willem goes up for a layup

Everett, WA - Cold shooting or hot shooting, tight game or runaway, the Trojans got the same result.  Two big wins over north region opponents, Whatcom and Edmonds.  The men's hoops team won in a nailbiting 69-68 point win over the Orcas on Wednesday night.  Despite shooting 33% from the floor and trailing by six with less than a minute to play, the Trojans never lost composure.  With ten seconds remaining and trailing by two, Everett pushed the ball up the floor. Brycen Dillworth was fouled on a three point attempt with two seconds remaining.  Calmly Brycen sank all three free throws to give Everett a one point lead.  Whatcom had one final attempt from just inside half court that was banked in as time expired.  After review the buzzer sound just before the Whatcom player released the shot.

On Saturday night, Everett hosted rival Edmonds.  After nearly two minutes without a bucket from either team, Everett turned it on and never let off the gas.  The Trojans scored 13 straight before Edmonds got their first bucket and built the lead out to 20 with 13 minutes to play in the half.  That cusion would more than double by halftime as the Trojans went in to the break with a 54-16 point lead and shooting 50% from the field.

The Trojans hot shooting continued in the 2nd half, again shooting an even 50% from the floor compared to Edmonds' 31%.  Everett eclipsed the 100 point mark with three minutes to play and cruised to a 105-49 point win.  All 13 players in uniform got into the boxscore with at least 2 points and freshman Jake Howe led all scorers with 24 points, 5 assists, and 8 rebounds.  In total the Trojans out-rebounded the Tritons 69-33 and tallied a season high 29 assists.

Everett improves to 3-0 on the abbreviated season and will face a tough two game road stretch this week against undefeated Skagit Valley and 2-1 Bellevue.  Tip off against Skagit Valley will be at 7:15pm on Wednesday.
