Everett Remains Perfect in Road Win Over Tacoma

Tacoma, WA - The 2022 men's soccer squad remained perfect with a huge 4-0 win over Tacoma CC, a team that knocked Everett out of the playoffs a season ago in the quarterfinals.  That match had a dramatic finish that ended on Tacoma's home field in penalty kicks, but the rematch on the same field would not be near as close.

The two teams spent the first twenty minutes of the match testing each other out, and a set piece in a dangerous place nearly put Tacoma on top, but just moments later Muhammed Darboe beat a TCC defender on a beautiful long pass from Emmanuel Nyaga to put the Trojans on the board 1-0 in the 22nd minute.  Despite the goal, both teams played evenly matched in the first half with 4 shots apiece, and Tacoma with the edge forcing 3 Everett saves by starting keeper Avary Olson to Tacoma's one.

Ten minutes into the second half Everett earned a free kick from just outside of the box, and it would be River Stewart who would but the Trojans up 2-0 with a brilliant strike over the TCC wall and bending just inside the upper left corner of the goal.  From that point EvCC would control the match, scoring two more goals, one by Emmanuel Nyaga in the 61st minute (assisted by Emmanuel Chavez) and the capper in the 78th minute scored by River Stewart his fourth of the season, assisted by Tatsuya Cosey.

The Trojans now 2-0 have scored 4 goals in each game, while only conceding 1 in the match earlier in the week to Portland CC at the NWAC Friendlies.  Their next test will be a tough one against undefeated Peninsula College who won the north region last season but like EvCC lost in the quarterfinals.  The match is set to take place on Saturday, with a 2:15pm kick off at Everett Memorial Stadium.
