Trojans Defeat SPSCC 3-0

Everett, WA - Since defeating rival Edmonds College back on September 22nd, the previously ranked #1 team in the NWAC entered a bit of a slump falling 1-0 to Bellevue, then 3-0 to Whatcom, and tying Skagit Valley 1-1 last Saturday.  Everett returned to their winning ways and was able to right the ship coming out with a big 3-0 win over South Puget Sound.  The Clippers packed it in defensively in the first half, making it difficult for the Trojan offense.  Eventually though in the 21st minute, a 5th corner kick earned by the Trojans resulted in a header goal from Oliver Giessler with the assist coming from Emmanuel Escalante.

After the goal, the SPSCC defense kept the Trojans from inflicting any further damage and the halftime score remained 1-0.  Everett was able to fire off 8 shots, to South Puget Sound's 6, and forced the SPSCC keeper to make 4 saves while starting keeper Avary Olson collected three saves.

Everett struck quickly in the second half, scoring 8 minutes in on a cross into the box from Tatsuya Cosey who found Victor Aguilar finishing on a run that resulted in the sophomore's 3rd goal of the season.  From that point the wind was taken out of the sails for the Clippers as they would only muster 3 shots the entire second half to Everett's 12.  Avary Olson did not record a save in the second half and recorded his 4th shutout of the season.  Everett would get one more punctuation mark goal in the 67th minute when a Conner Smith throw in that was deflected by the SPSCC keeper found Muhammed Darboe who put it away.  The goal would be his 7th of the season and Conners's 3rd assist.

With the win, Everett hold's onto 3rd place in the competitive North region standings.  At just three points behind first place Peninsula, the stage is set for a big time match up in Port Angeles this Saturday.  Everett will face a Peninsula team still reeling from their only loss of the season delt to them by the Trojans earlier this season.  Kick off is set for 5:30pm.
