Raney, a native of Snohomish County has spent the last three seasons coaching the varsity boys soccer program at Arlington high school leading the team to a most recent 8-1 record this abbreviated COVID season and the most successful season in school history.  Kieren also spent the 2021 season as the head girls coach at Bellevue Christian in which he was named the Nisqually Conference Coach of the Year and led the team to a 9-0 record conceding only one goal all season.

“We’re thrilled to have Kieren come in and lead our men’s soccer program, said athletic director Garet Studer.  Coach Erik Cruz did a phenomenal job taking over a one-win program five years ago and turning it into a perennial playoff team and title contender.  Kieren has the passion, mindset, tactical knowledge, and preparation skills to take over and build on that momentum.”

Prior to his head coaching roles, Raney assisted at Everett High school for two seasons as well as at Snohomish High School in which the boys program finished 2nd in the state.  Kieren is the director of Adventure Soccer, a local nonprofit that works with children affected by gang violence, drug abuse, and children in the foster youth system.  He also has ongoing work with orphaned and vulnerable children in Swaziland, Africa.

Raney was a two-year First Team All-Wesco player out of Snohomish High School playing for his father Matt Raney for a season and state champion head coach Dan Pingrey.  Kieren went on to play at Northwest University where he had 19 career starts playing primarily in the midfield and scored 6 goals.

“I believe in giving everything for your team, being well organized and never quitting no matter what you are up against, said Kieren.  These [values] must be applied on the field as well as in the classroom and in life.”
