Streak Continues

Lynnwood, WA - The Everett Community College softball team extended their win streak to 9 this afternoon after a doubleheader walloping over Edmonds CC.  Earlier this week Olympic College canceled games against both Edmonds and Everett due to injuries and low numbers, so the rival schools penciled in the two games in Lynnwood to make up for the missed games.  From the onset Everett looked to be the more dialed in team and the Trojans would go on to outscore the Tritons 30-4 in two games that resulted in the ten run rule (12-2 and 18-2).

Kaylie Hoskins, despite giving up the two runs in game one still continued to dominate the strikezone, sitting down 8 batters and bringing her season total up to 83 which is now 8th all time in single season strikeouts at EvCC.  The two earned runs raise her season ERA to 1.46 but she still sits atop the NWAC in both ERA and strikeouts.  Several Trojan hitters deserve a nod for their performance at the plate. Leiloa Bustamante went 2-4  with a double and 3 RBI's; Isabelle Hanson connected for her 3rd homerun on the season and went 2-3; Meleana Turner went 1-3, but came up big with a 3 run homerun her second on the season; and Jaz McMiller went 4-4 with an RBI and scored 3 runs.

Kayla Tuao took to the circle in game two for her 5th start of the season and went the distance in the shortened game giving up 7 hits and just 2 runs on her best pitching performance of the season.  She also had a stellar game at the plate going 4-3 with her 8th double on the season (now 3rd in the NWAC in doubles). Leiloa Bustamante picked up where she left off in game one, going 2-3 with 2 homeruns, one being a grand slam, scored 3 runs, and stole a base; Isabelle Hanson connected on her 2nd homerun of the day tacking on 3 RBI's; Taylor Maynard went 2-2, walked 3 times, drove in a run, and scored 3 times; Meleana Turner went 2-3 with 2 RBI's and scored 2 runs; and Kaitlynn Bridgewater went 2-4 with a double and scored 2 runs.

Everett's next game will again be on the road at Edmonds on Wednesday April 28th for an 11am and 1pm doubleheader.
