Fall in the Books, Ready for Spring

Fall in the Books, Ready for Spring

Everett, WA - Fresh off of a North Region championship this past spring, the Trojan softball program entered fall training with confidence, energy, and drive to be an NWAC Championship contender in 2022.  Ten players from last season's team reurns for the 2022 campaign due to a COVID-19 blanket waiver that did not charge a year of eligibility to the 2021 participants.  Coach Smith now in his 20th season, added four recruits to an already loaded squad that was among the best in the NWAC last spring in runs scored, runs allowed, and strikeouts.

Travel limitations for most NWAC schools limited the fall schedule, but EvCC did get to play one double header at home against Yakima Valley College.  Everett put up plenty of runs scoring a total of 14 and allowing just three by the Yaks.  Returning pitchers Kaylie Hoskins and Kayla Tuaoa looked strong and two newcomers added depth to the rotation, Riley Mae Swanson and Rilee Devries.  All four combined for 16 strikeouts and should get a considerable amount of time this spring in the circle for Everett.  Offensively the bats were hot with fifteen hits, and eight of them for extra bases.

The Trojans will have a long winter wait before their next live game contest.  The official 2022 season will begin the last weekend in February.
