Home Opening Wins Against the Rangers

Home Opening Wins Against the Rangers

Everett, WA - After a 5-1 start to the season playing on neutral fields, the Trojans finally got a chance to play at home, opening up north region play against the Rangers of Olympic College.  Despite Olympic scoring the first run in game one, the Trojan offense was overwhelming and the game would end after 5 innings due to the 8-run rule.   In the first game of the doubleheader Olympic got a run in the 2nd inning and Everett answered with three runs in the bottom of the 2nd, four in the 3rd, and an explosion of runs in the 4th plating 12.   EvCC totaled 18 hits led by Alli Wilson and Savanna Ah Mook Sang Frank who each went 3 for 4.  Ivane Aholelei led the team with 4 RBI's and Jordyn Lono, Madison German, and Avery Olson each pitched in three runs.  Madison German had the lone homerun in the game on a two strike pitch that she drove to left field clearing the fence by at least 10 feet.  It was her 5th of the season and now leads the team.  Olympic got a run in the 5th inning on a foul ball fly out, where the runner was able to tag and score from third, but it was no where near enough, and the Trojans took game one by a final score of 19-2.  Morgan Epperson pitched all 5 innings finishing with 6 hits allowed, 3 walks, 2 earned runs and striking out 6.

Game two was another offensive onslaught for EvCC who put up 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Olympic came back to score 2 runs in the top of the 2nd, and for the moment it was a one run game.  But Everett answered in the bottom half of the inning with a lead off solo home run by Avery Olson, the first of her collegiate career.  Three more runs would come across to score that inning and Everett jumped back up 7-2.  After a near 1,2,3 inning on defense, Everett doubled their score with a big seven run inning in the 3rd that was highlighted by a triple, two doubles, and capped with a three-run home run by Ivane Aholeilei.  Olympic could not recover and the Trojans went on to win 14-2.  Jordyn Lono had 4 big RBI's and was one of four Trojans to record a double (Isabelle Hansen, Kayla Tuaoa, Alli Wilson).  Freshman pitcher Morgan Epperson got more work in the circle again going all five innings, and this time allowing just 2 hits, 2 walks, 1 earned run, and struck out 2 batters.

The Trojans next scheduled game will not be until next Friday, March 24th where EvCC will take on rival Edmonds College at Gaffney Field.  The Tritons have had a good start to the season, at 6-6 which includes a win over top ranked Southwestern Oregon Community College.  Game times are set for 4pm and 6pm.
